Women's, Men's, Unisex?

First, we define Fashion.

So how can we define Fashion? Or, can Fashion be defined?

Fashion is subjective, however, it is most likely seen as

EXPRESSION.

So if Fashion is a means of expression. Why do we need labels to constrict us from fully expressing us in any possible way or form. Is it because of a social construct that we should dress feminine if we are a girl, or masculine if we are a boy?

However, nowadays we are seeing many brands developing themselves to become more "up-to-date" with society. Our society is changing in a good way. We are able to express ourselves more freely than before, people are taking more fashion risks and we are encouraged to break out from the fashion norms and stereotypes that had been so deeply imprinted in society.

John Berger had stated ‘men act, women appear’. He claims that, in Western European cultures, the role of men is considered active and that of women considered passive or, to put it differently, men observe women and women are observed by men.

I want you to think, are you dressing yourselves to please the opposite sex or are you simply dressing to please yourself. Are you dressing for impression or expression?

However, the "unisex" trend could in itself be seen as unequal, because it confirms a traditional feminine role subservient to the masculine role given the fact that “unisex clothing”, mostly, represents women wearing (altered) men’s clothing.

To more questions...

Why should we have to identify ourselves as a certain gender. Why when we look through websites we have to click on male/female. Why can't everything be in one tab?

Why when women buy men's clothes it's ok, but if a man buys women's clothes, it is sometimes considered gay or weird? Why when men dress "artsy" or is "artsy" they're considered gay or weird. Ok that's a whole other topic.

On the other hand...

Do people even care about this?

Is this even worthy of a post?

Also for clarification.

If you're saying I don't want to wear baggy clothes ew. Did I say you had to? I didn't say wear unisex clothes. I didn't say don't wear tight or skimpy clothes. I am stating that we should all be able to wear what we want without judgement. And this could help, no guarantees, through the replacement of "Male/Female/Unisex" with just "Clothes".
